The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCi) today announced a premium version of its popular weather application for iPhone and iPod touch now available on the Apple App Store. The Weather Channel Max will be the first App Store weather application to include future radar imagery in motion on a map, using proprietary TruPoint technology developed by The Weather Channel®. Other new features include additional severe weather coverage, an enhanced video center, home page customization and more.

"The Weather Channel Max application is truly groundbreaking, and we expect that it will be a must-have for many iPhone and iPod touch users," said Louis Gump, vice president of mobile, TWCi. "Using our proprietary TruPoint technology, the app will give consumers unique insight into the weather future for locations they care about the most, from their backyard to the ballpark. Enhancements such as additional severe weather and video content round out the unparalleled experience we are delivering."

The Weather Channel Max application is the first time the exclusive TruPoint future radar imagery has been utilized in a mobile environment. With TruPoint by The Weather Channel, maps show not only recent actual images but also projected images for the upcoming six hours, allowing users to see exactly what's coming next in the forecast with the most accurate radar imagery available on any platform. In general, existing radar imagery on mobile weather applications shows what has happened recently or in the past, which is extremely valuable. Now, TruPoint future radar imagery also allows The Weather Channel to predict and display a weather pattern for several hours into the future.

The Weather Channel Max offers all the functionality that users have come to expect plus additional features and functionality in an ad-free environment:

• A Severe Weather Center with local and national alerts as well as storm watch and tropical updates keeps users up to date with severe weather information

• A video center allows customers to choose from a large library of local, regional, national and international video clips produced specifically for mobile.

• A Boat & Beach Forecast gives marine coastal forecasts, local tide information, and wind and surf conditions for coastal locations

• Customizations such as the ability to save any page as a home page for fast access to the information that matters most to the customer.

The original free, ad-based version of The Weather Channel for iPhone and iPod touch has received more than 3.8 million downloads since its November 2008 launch and remains one of the most downloaded applications on the Apple App Store. The success of the original application and outstanding customer feedback led to the creation of The Weather Channel Max application.

The Weather Channel Max application is available for $3.99 from the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPod touch at www.itunes.com/apps/theweatherchannelmax.
