Chinese telecom vendors have already headed to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America and done well with equipment that is almost as robust and that costs less than similar products from Cisco, Nortel and Alcatel-Lucent. The U.S., however, is no longer the no-go-zone it once was for these vendors: Both Huawei and ZTE have been building out their U.S. offices and have become more aggressive about landing big deals with carriers.
