According to a report from PalmInfoCenter, Palm is beginning to inform employees of job cuts, which could total in the "hundreds." A Palm representative confirmed that the company was planning layoffs, but would not disclose how many employees would lose their jobs. The company had a workforce of 1,247 at the end of May. Palm recently announced that its quarterly revenue would be below expectations because it could not get a new product qualified for release [1]. Rumor had it that the new device was a Treo for Verizon Wireless.
