SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. today announced that the company's Ethernet switching products have completed and passed the Department of Defense's (DOD) Joint Interoperability Test Command VoIP Assurance testing for Assured Services Voice Application Local Area Network (ASVALAN) and these products are now certified to be interoperable to operate in DOD VoIP networks.
The JITC certification, validating functionality of attributes such as jitter, delay and packet loss, is required for all products that support voice, data or video communications connecting to the Defense Switched Network. Extreme Networks(R) products, including the BlackDiamond(R) 10K, BlackDiamond 12K, BlackDiamond 8800 and Summit(R) X450 switches have passed the rigorous evaluation covering the performance, features and availability needed for government networks.
"Technology certification by the DOD means that Extreme Networks leading-edge switches are pre-approved for use and certified to interoperate in converged Voice over IP networks for the DOD," said Paul Hooper, chief marketing officer for Extreme Networks, Inc. "Our high performance network products have been proven globally to integrate well with leading IP telephony solutions for mission-critical services and bandwidth intensive data."
IPv6 Support
To further adoption of next generation network services and meet the proliferation of devices supported at the edge of the network, Extreme Networks offers native hardware and software support of IPv6 and IPv4 protocols with its ExtremeXOS(TM) based Summit and BlackDiamond switches. This supports the emerging requirements for federal government data and communications infrastructure and Internet2. Tests performed in 2007 by the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) demonstrated that Extreme Networks core to edge network products, consisting of the BlackDiamond and Summit switches, support full featured IPv6 networking that is compliant with the requirements of the IPv6 Forum's Phase 2 IPv6 Ready program.
