Motorola reorganizes its handset business

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, Motorola has reorganized its handset business in an effort to prime the unit for a previously announced spin-off that is anticipated next year. The company combined Motorola's mid/high-tier feature phones and multimedia phones into a single unit. Motorola's SVP of mobile devices was named head of consumer products according to the Wall Street Journal. The same report claims that Steve Lalla will now oversee mass-market phones, while Todd DeYoung is tasked with ensuring that Motorola's phones match its over-arching strategy.
