Sprint Nextel has been slapped with a $1 billion class-action lawsuit over early termination fees (ETF), just as the carrier is beginning to pro-rate the fees.
The federal lawsuit claims that Sprint has illegally charged $1.2 billion in illegal ETFs since 1999, and seeks reimbursements.
Sprint was not available for comment.
The news follows a decision in June in which a California judge ruled that Sprint had to pay back $73 million to customers that were charged early termination fees.
