Why it went wrong: We jumped the gun a little bit on reporting on the pricing for Research In Motion's BlackBerry Storm, which Verizon Wireless launched [1] to much fanfare on Nov. 21. The $219 rumor was based off of a post on the blog Boy Genius Report, which had cited screenshots taken of a "staging" website for Verizon, and not the real website with full retail pricing options. The actual pricing turned out to be $199 with a two-year contract [2], making the phone competitive with Apple's iPhone 3G.
