China will issue 3G licenses in early 2009, which it expects to generate $29 billion, according to Li Yizhong, the Minister for Industry and Information Technology. The country is giving licenses to China Mobile for TD-SCDMA technology, to China Unicom for WCDMA technology and to China Telecom for CDMA 2000. Article [1]
