Samsung, the world's No. 2 handset maker by volume, is in a relatively strong position, even though the company posted its first quarterly loss [1] in the fourth quarter. Samsung has said it will produce Android-based phones [2] in the first half of 2009, and they will probably be glimpsed soon at Mobile World Congress. Choi Gee-sung, who has been president of Samsung's handset division since 2007, will head the consumer products division.
