Mobile marketing innovator Mobile Discovery announced today that it will be partnering with Scanbuy, Inc. to offer EZcodes (2D barcodes) through Mobile Discovery's Connected Media Platform. These unique 2D codes can immediately link millions of camera phone users to mobile content from offline media, removing the need for people to search by keyword or type in lengthy URL's.
Mobile Discovery's Connected Media PlatformTM gives advertisers and agencies a web-based system to create, execute and report on integrated offline/online campaigns using 2D codes, SMS Short Codes, keyword search and/or image recognition. Any magazine, newspaper or outdoor campaign with a 2D code can give someone direct access to product information, downloadable content or even mobile commerce transactions. The platform links traditional media, mobile and the PC (using Mobile Discovery's Facebook, and MySpace applications).
"We are always striving to offer the best technology solutions to our customers, and we believe that 2D barcodes are a vital element in facilitating traditional to digital connections," said David Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Discovery. "Scanbuy is a leader in the U.S. 2D code market with universal technology that is compatible across several carriers."
Scanbuy's free application, ScanLife, is available to millions of camera phones across every operating system (via www.getscanlife.com on a mobile browser). These codes have already been used in campaigns by advertisers like Car & Driver Magazine, Citysearch, and Sprint.
"There is a clear demand from marketers and media providers to more easily make traditional to digital connections," said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. "We hope this partnership will make the technology more widely available to anyone that wants to launch an integrated mobile campaign."
Mobile Discovery has previously used Scanbuy's 2D codes at Case Western University in one of the country's first large scale trials of the technology. In that project EZcodes were used in a number of ways including the delivery of real-time bus arrival times and on print ads from advertisers like QVC.
