Clearwire debuted a personal hotspot that will allow any WiFi-enabled consumer device to use the Clear WiMAX network. Called the CLEAR Spot, this battery-powered router (manufactured by CradlePoint) connects up to eight WiFi devices to the Internet via the company's mobile WiMAX service.
Customers can insert their CLEAR USB Modem (available for $49) into the router and an instant WiFi hotspot is created allowing any WiFi-enabled consumer electronic or PC device to use CLEAR's mobile WiMAX network.
The CLEAR Spot router will be available this month for $139 at CLEAR stores and authorized dealers or online at www.clear.com [1]. The company expects to introduce other CLEAR Spot enabled products in the coming months.
