Following months of rumblings on the possibility of Apple bringing the iPhone to China, it appears that an official announcement on the topic is imminent. According to a Reuters report citing an unnamed analyst's source, China Unicom is expected to announce tomorrow that it will be selling Apple's iPhone in the country. A China Unicom spokeswoman would not confirm the deal, but said that the iPhone would undoubtedly be discussed Friday when Unicom holds a media briefing to discuss its first-half results. The deal is notable considering China is the world's largest wireless market with some 687 million subscribers, according to the Wall Street Journal. Article [1], article [2] (sub. req.)
