As we mentioned last month, T-Mobile USA has big plans for wVoIP both in the enterprise [1] and for their regular subscribers [2], now the carrier has announced it's using UMA technology for the service. The carrier is inviting T-Mobile subscribers in the Seattle area to test the service, which is called T-Mobile HotSpot @Home. Customers have to buy one of two dual-mode handsets, the Nokia 6136 and Samsung T709 for $50 each with the standard 2-year contract. The service requires an additional $20 a month for unlimited calls from any T-Mobile hotspot or home access point. The home access point (as seen here with the Samsung handset [3]) is free to subscribers that don't already have one. No word yet on which other markets the service will launch in next.
