1. Research In Motion BlackBerry Curve (includes the 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i and the 8900)

Available at: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and others
Price with a two-year contract: between $39.99 and $149.99, depending on the model and carrier
IDC's Ramon Llamas on the Curve: In a market where distribution is key to shipment volume success, Research In Motion's Curve finds itself available at all the major carriers as well as regional and prepaid operators. As a result, Research In Motion's BlackBerry Curve, in all of its versions, led all smartphones in the United States during the second quarter of 2009. By itself, the Curve offers a hard Qwerty keyboard, navigational trackball and a big screen, and different versions offer WiFi, GPS, or, in the case of the 8900, both.

Also appealing to users is its very friendly price. Older models can be found well below $100, and even the more expensive models tracking at $149.99 were competitively priced against other smartphones and high-end feature phones.

This is a very informative slide show, and I believe it shows the current market trends. It will be interesting to see if Nokia, Samsung and LG will make this list within the next few months as they are making a continuous effort to improve their smart phone offerings.
