Huawei also is in the business of making low-cost and white label devices alongside its branded devices. Huawei carries aspirations of penetrating the U.S. market and is actively developing Android-based phones.

ABI expects that Huawei will continue to rise in the rankings as it rides the growth in emerging markets and increases the breadth of its handset portfolio.
