Why it was a Fierce 15: IM firm Jabber was a Fierce 15 because it had a solution that solved the mobile IM interoperability problem. The company's SMS Gateway allowed carriers to launch inter-platform and inter-carrier IM services on mobile phones with WAP and SMS, using Jabber's XCP server to convert the SMS instant messages into other formats.
