Nokia handset metrics - Q4 2008
Nokia, the world's largest handset maker, relies a great deal on volume sales for its large market share. The Finnish giant, however, is not immune to the economic recession that is sweeping across the wireless industry, and posted a 69 percent drop in fourth quarter profits. The company recently said it would launch its own MVNO in Japan, giving it further market differentiation. However, its struggles to break into the North American market continue.
Q4 numbers:
- Sales: $16.4 billion
- Units shipped: 113.1 million
- Average selling price: $92
- Market share: 38.6 percent
