T-Mobile will presale HTC Dream Sept. 17 - Rumor Mill Roundup

Verdict: WRONG

Why it went wrong: The "unofficial" T-Mobile blog TmoNews reported on numerous details of the HTC Dream in August: that T-Mobile USA customers would be able to pre-order the device and that it would sell for $150 with a contract. Firstly, the phone turned out to be called the T-Mobile G1, a name change officially unveiled the day the phone was introduced, on Sept. 23, and one that caught many off guard. As it turned out, T-Mobile kept their cards close to the vest, and allowed customers to start pre-ordering the phone that day, and said it would retail for $179.99 with a two-year contract.
