Based on data collected during the first three quraters of this year, venture capital investment in the wireless industry looks to be at its lowest point in a decade, according to figures from The MoneyTree Report by PwC and the National Venture Capital Association, based on data from Thomson Reuters. Around $1.62 billion has been invested in wireless this year, way down from the high point of $3.79 billion set in 2000. Nonetheless, venture capitalists are active in the mobile industry, funding companies focused on mobile commerce, mobile broadband and other areas.
