ABI: Expect flat handset growth in 2010

Almost every research firm has predicted that handset sales will fall in 2009, and ABI is no different. In a new report, the firm is predicting an 8 percent drop in 2009. However, the bright side, if it can be called that, is that ABI is predicting flat growth for 2010; no substantial growth, but a stop in the decline of global handset sales. ABI said that the stabilization next year may come to North America and Europe slower than in other regions, with a possible small decline in shipments while other regions have a small jump in shipments.
