American Airlines taps AirCell for in-flight WiFi

American Airlines has inked a deal with AirCell to bring in-flight WiFi service to its passengers sometime next year. AirCell's service will allow passengers to access the Internet via any WiFi-enabled device. Trial runs will begin on Boeing 767-200 aircrafts, which generally only fly transcontinentally. The service will be nationwide across the U.S., border-to-border and coast-to-coast. AirCell's CEO Jack Blumenstein said in a statement: "Airline customers across the U.S. list broadband access in flight as one of their top wishes." Couple this service with an online VoIP provider, however, and you may have most passengers' worst nightmare: incessant phone calls in-flight.
