Amp'd claims 100K subscribers

Tools

After signing up a whopping 70,000 people in the fourth quarter, Amp'd Mobile has signed up more than 100,000 subscribers in 2006. The figure is on target for projections the company made in October, however, in September the company indicated 150,000 subscribers by the end of 2006. Regardless, 100,000 is a remarkable number of subscribers for a new MVNO in such a crowded market. CEO Peter Adderton estimated the subscriber base has expanded beyond 110,000 in the new year. Amp'd also announced its ARPU has remained steady at $100 with $30 per user coming from its wide variety of multimedia services. Last October, Amp'd executives also noted that by the end of 2008 it will turn an operating profit by acquiring more than 700,000 subscribers. That growth would necessitate an average of 25,000 new subscribers each month.
