Amp'd gets 25% of Prexar

Tools

A bankruptcy judge has greenlit Prexar's purchase of Amp'd Mobile, but Amp'd will retain a 25 percent stake in Prexar as part of the deal. Prexar parent company United Systems will pay the former MVNO a combination of cash and stock in return for access to Amp'd Mobile's remaining customers. The final price tag for Prexar's acquisition will depend on the number of customers that switch from Amp'd over to Prexar's service, what plans they choose once they get there, and how long they stay. A key factor that led to Amp'd's Chapter 11 was that about 40 percent of its more than 200,000 customers were not paying their bills on time.
