Analyst: Qualcomm and Nokia to settle soon

American Technology Research analyst Mark McKechnie expects that Qualcomm and Nokia would resolve their patent dispute within three to 18 months, but in the end Nokia will pay upwards of 2 percent royalties to Qualcomm. McKechnie argued that this would drive Qualcomm's earnings higher in 2009 and 2010 both because of the royalty payments and because of the decreased legal expenditures.
