Android dominates Wirefly's top 10 summer phones listing

Tools

Independent retailer Wirefly released its top 10 best-selling phones for the summer, and--not surprisingly--Android-powered gadgets dominated the list. Android phones took the No. 1 and No. 2 slots with the Motorola (NYSE:MOT) Droid for Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) coming in first and the HTC Aria for AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) clocking in second. "In fact, had the entire country not experienced mass shortages of such highly-touted Android smartphones as the HTC Evo 4G, Droid Incredible and Droid X, it's likely that more devices utilizing Google's open source operating system would have made it on our list," said Andy Zeinfeld, CEO of Simplexity, parent company of Wirefly. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 for AT&T took the third spot, The Motorola Cliq XT for T-Mobile USA took the fourth spot, and the Samsung Intercept for Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) was No. 5. Release
