App Annie buys rival Distimo, raises $17M in new funding
App Annie, the app analytics and data company, acquired rival mobile analytics firm Distimo. The deal is App Annie's first acquisition and was made with a combination of cash and stock, though the companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. As the Wall Street Journal notes, both firms provide analytics on mobile app revenue, rankings, reviews and ratings across the major mobile platforms. They also both look at an app's success on ad networks and conversions to paid users. App Annie CEO Bertrand Schmitt said the deal "represents a major milestone in App Annie's growth, and it allows us to accelerate our product roadmap."
Separately, App Annie raised $17 million in new funding from its existing investors, IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners and Sequoia Capital. This brings App Annie's total money raised to $39 million. Release
