App Store downloads pass 1.5 billion mark

Apple is still mum on how much money it is making from its App Store, but the storefront has been a hit with users. The company announced that consumers have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications from its iPhone app storefront since it debuted July 11, 2008. In addition, the App Store now offers in excess of 65,000 applications, and membership in the iPhone Developer Program tops 100,000.
