Apple recalls iPhone 3G charger

Tools

Apple has recalled the A/C power adapter for the iPhone 3G, warning that some of the chargers are faulty and could be potentially dangerous. The chargers that are at issue were distributed with the iPhone 3G in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico and several Latin American countries.

The company said that the metal prongs on the charger can break off and lead to possible electric shock. The news comes as Apple is trying to get past the early problems that plagued the iPhone 3G and gave it negative publicity--most notably its alleged problems connecting to AT&T Mobility's HSPA 3G network.

Apple said replacement chargers will be available starting Oct. 10.
