Apple's Cook opens up on product philosophy, Forstall's firing

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook granted an extensive interview to Bloomberg BusinessWeek in which he described in detail his management philosophy, his views on Apple's products, concerns about the labor practices of company's supplier Foxconn and a host of other issues. In the interview, Cook said every Monday at 9 a.m. Cook and his management team meet "religiously" to talk about everything important that is going on in the company. Cook also obliquely described why Scott Forstall was fired as the senior vice president of Apple's iOS software unit. He said there was a lack of "collaboration," explaining, "You have to be an A-plus at collaboration. And so the changes that we made get us to a whole new level of collaboration." In a separate interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, Cook said that developing a living room product is "an area of intense interest. I can't say more than that." Article
