AT&T asks FCC to change auction rules, too

AT&T has joined Frontline Wireless and Verizon Wireless as the third major company to petition the FCC to change its spectrum rules for the upcoming 700 MHz auction. AT&T, however, wants the regulatory body to reconsider requirements relating to the build out of a nationwide broadband network for public safety officials. The current rules require bidders to come to an agreement with public safety networks over a business plan for the shared network before the auction, which is set to take place at the end of January. AT&T said this requirement is "an extreme penalty" since the FCC will not allow bidders to take the spectrum if they do not have such an agreement.
