The $25 plan includes 250 anytime minutes and unlimited messaging every 30 days, and will be available starting Sept. 18. AT&T also said that starting Sept. 18 it will offer an international long distance calling feature for 250 minutes of international calls to over 50 countries for $10 a month.

Additionally, AT&T said that GoPhone customers traveling to Canada will now have service with roaming rates of 39 cents per minute for voice, 25 cents per text message sent and 20 cents for each text received.

AT&T has taken several steps over the past few months to spruce up its GoPhone prepaid service. In June AT&T debuted a $50 unlimited plan for talk, texting and Web access, though smartphone customers have to add data packages ranging from $5 to $25 on top of that. And in April AT&T partnered with LG to bring the Android-powered LG Thrive for $179.99 to the GoPhone brand, following other carriers that have brought Android phones to prepaid services.
