Broadband stimulus grants delayed until December

The first broadband stimulus grants are not going to be awarded until December, one month later than was originally planned. Citing the complexity of sorting through the 2,200 applications that were received, Lawrence Strickling, chief of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, said the agency would take a few more weeks with the first round. Both the NTIA and the the Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service have been charged with doling out $7.2 billion in grants as part of the government's economic stimulus package.
