UK telco BT Group has introduced a cell phone that switches between fixed and mobile networks to save money. The BT Fusion phone, originally named "Bluephone," will become "widely available'' in September, says the company. The Fusion uses Bluetooth technology to access the fixed network remotely. The long-delayed Motorola-manufactured handset, originally set to ship in April 2004, has been dogged by technical problems. BT says Fusion can switch between fixed and mobile networks at home or in the office. To change to a fixed network, a high-speed Internet connection is required along with an access point, or hub.
