C Spire to sell Apple's iPhone 4S Nov. 11

C Spire Wireless said it will begin selling Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 4S starting Nov. 11, becoming the fourth U.S. carrier to do so. Pre-orders for the device started Tuesday.

The privately held regional carrier, formerly known as Cellular South, will sell the device for the same prices that AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T), Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) and Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) currently offer. The iPhone 4S retails for $199.99 for the 16 GB model, $299.99 for the 32 GB model and $399.99 for the 64 GB model, with a two-year contract. Additionally, like the Tier 1 carriers, C Spire will also offer an 8 GB iPhone 4 for $99.99 with a two-year contract.

C Spire pointed out that customers can pair the iPhones with its $70 Infinite Choice data plan, which offers unlimited voice, texting and mobile data (though streaming data is not included; unlimited streaming costs an extra $30 per month). The availability of an unlimited data plan has been one of Sprint's chief selling points for its own iPhone offerings.

CDMA carrier C Spire shook up the wireless world last month when it announced it would offer the iPhone, beating out Tier 1 carrier T-Mobile USA as well as flat-rate players like Leap Wireless (NASDAQ:LEAP) and MetroPCS (NYSE:PCS).

Interestingly, C Spire said last month that it increased its EV-DO data coverage by about 38 percent, or 1.3 million POPs, giving it a total coverage footprint of 4.7 million POPs. The company also said its plans to expand mobile broadband coverage to 238 cell sites in portions of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee by year-end as part of its continuing network expansion ahead of its LTE launch. The network enhancements were announced days after C Spire confirmed it was getting the iPhone.
