Canada must wait until 2007 for number portability

Canada's carriers have agreed to support number portability but not until September 2007. Until then, Canadian wireless customers who wish to switch carriers cannot take their previous phone number with them. Some customers have accused the carriers of dragging their feet, but industry reps point out that the US took seven years to phase in number portability.
