Chutes & Ladders: Sprint names ex-Microsoft exec to Clearwire board

Sprint Nextel appointed Brian McAndrews, who recently led the advertiser and publisher solutions group at Microsoft, to Clearwire's board. This follows the company's recent decision to appoint Steve Elfman, Sprint's president of network operations and wholesale, to the Clearwire board. 

Symmetricom, a provider of precise time and frequency technologies, announced that CEO Thomas Steipp will retire at the end of June.

Mike Frausing joined Exalt Communications, a wireless backhaul company, as senior vice president for worldwide sales and Rod Perry joined as vice president of business development.

Anna Gomez, Sprint's long-time vice president of state, regulatory and government affairs is now serving as acting head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

Verizon Communications CFO Doreen Toben will retire from the company in mid-2009.

Donna Dubinsky will step down from Palm's board, bringing to a close a long history with the company, and Elevation Partners nominated Rajiv Dutta for election to the board.
