Cingular taps Alcatel for IP migration

On the heels of The White House's blessing over the Alcatel-Lucent merger yesterday, Alcatel inked a plum deal today with Cingular to provide its multiservice transport solution for IP-based HSDPA services. Alcatel will migrate the carrier's ATM networks to IP/MPLS. Alcatel says the solution is simple to manage and will provide significant reductions in Cingular's overall CAPEX and OPEX.
