Clearwire unofficially offers WiMAX in Las Vegas

Las Vegas residents can now buy Clearwire's Clear WiMAX service, although the service hasn't officially launched. The soft-launch mirrors what Clearwire did in May to begin rolling out its "Clear" service in Atlanta.

"In advance of our full commercial launch of Las Vegas scheduled for this summer, we are now selling Clear service as part of our operational readiness activities," Clearwire spokeswoman Jennifer Morgan told Unstrung. "Store openings, advertising, and other market activities will be a part of our full commercial launch, but residents of Las Vegas can now go to Clear.com and order services."

Clearwire's Clear service is also available in Portland, Ore. Sprint's Xohm-branded service is being expanded in Baltimore and will be converted to a Clear market later this year.

Other markets that will launch this year include Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Philadelphia. The company also will convert existing pre-WiMAX markets in Seattle, Honolulu and Charlotte, N.C., to mobile WiMAX.

LTE in the USA ****** none! ******

I'm no financial genius but CLWR sound like a good place to start.

don't buy it. clearwire is the worst overpriced service for internet that has ever existed. 99% of the time it is barely faster than dialup and the "company" has some shady billing tactics. about the only way you can come out ahead is by cancelling any credit card numnbers you gave them before they bill you an early termination fee despite them being unable to resolve no/poor signal problems! There are TONS of lawsuits against clearwire. VERY BAD COMPANY! STEER CLEAR!

Clearwire is the worst internet service out there. The signal drops off all the time, they manage your bandwidth, which means they limit your downloading. They are as slow as dial up and they have a high early termination fee. You only have 7 days to try their service, after that is when you get the early termination fee. If you have double pained windows, you will have to leave the windows open. On windy days or rainy days your service wont work. Your best bet for internet is Cox.

To escape their shady billing practices, get a credit card where you load the money onto the card. Therefore, they can't keep getting money off your card if you don't like their service.

Yes, Yes, Yes. Clearwire is ABSOLUTELY the worst service provider without ethics or scruples, they are a TERRIBLE Corporate Citizen. They are absolute LIARS. Don't believe any of their BS, don't become a sucker. I see Jaques claims they have throughput speeds of 20Mbps, ABSOLUTE LIAR. unstable & unreliable 3Mbps peak is more like it. 99% sure Jaques is a clown that works for the company using a lame french alias.

Better yet. Don't become a customer, why would you wast your money and set yourself up for the anguish and torment that these guys deliver.

Anonymous is really the telephone company knocking
clearwire???

No, shhh, but I am a senior executive at a cellular company and I am scared penniless because I won't have LTE deployed in volume for about 3 years or more...

That is why we all rave that it is not really a 4G technology, when it actually will be as fast as any 4G we ever deploy.

Clearwire is a pretty good company. I would say they don't have the fastest speeds on the market, but I consistently get 2-3mbps. The only time I ever noticed bad signal/download speeds the tech people hooked me up with a new modem.

Overall, I think they're an innovative, honest company that has received a bad rap from tards. AND if you can read, Jacques refers to the Clear 4g (20mbps) available in limited cities.
