ComScore: Prepaid services attract increased online traffic

Prepaid keeps on trucking through the recession. ComScore released a new report for the first quarter showing further evidence of the growing popularity of prepaid wireless service. ComScore looked at online visits to VirginMobileUSA.com, TracFone.com, MetroPCS.com, MyCricket.com, BoostMobile.com and Net10.com, and found visits to the sites jumped a combined 37 percent from the year-ago period to nearly 8 million visitors--or a little more than 4 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience. Visits to MyCricket.com and BoostMobile.com rose 107 percent and 105 percent, respectively; the period measured by comScore coincided with the introduction of Boost's $50 unlimited voice, texting and data plan.
