Cord cutters' monthly expenses could range from $85-$118 - without mobile

Cord cutters--customers who are renouncing paid TV services from cable or telco operators in favor of over-the-top (OTT) services from the likes of Netflix and Amazon--still must pay around $100 a month in fees, according to the latest research.

FierceWireless sister publication FierceOnlineVideo looked into the cost of cutting a pay-TV subscription in favor of an OTT approach, and found that users could squeak by with an $85 monthly bill if they selected the least expensive options, or could pay $118 for the premium packages. Those costs include Netflix, TiVo and Sling TV expenses, alongside a wired Internet connection.

Of course, for those customers who wish to take their OTT services on the road, the cost of a wireless service would need to be included--thereby raising the costs even further.
