Disney launching MVNO in Japan

Tools

Disney plans to launch a mobile phone service in Japan by the spring of next year to offer Disney-branded phones and content. The content company is partnering with Softbank to launch the service. Disney recently pulled the plug on its U.S. MVNO, Disney Mobile, which will go completely offline by the end of the year. The Softbank deal, however, will see Disney providing content, input on phone design and marketing, while Softbank will handle all the back-end issues: billing, customer service and device sales and distribution.
