Ericsson sues Samsung over handset patents

Ericsson has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit in a Texas court against Samsung, claiming the South Korean handset vendor violated 11 of its patents. Three of the patents relate to power management technology in mobile phones. Ericsson is asking for lost revenue and punitive damages. Ericsson spokespersons described the lawsuit as the result of a cross-licensing agreement between the two parties that expired last year and a continuation of a lawsuit Ericsson filed in February.
