FCC faces major new spectrum decisions

The FCC has already been tasked with a major new spectrum allocation challenge: how to create and implement the national broadband strategy that the economic stimulus package requires. This challenge is sitting there and President Obama's nominee to the next chairman of the FCC, Julius Genachowski, has yet to be confirmed by the Senate. At the same time, major wireless operators are going to be lobbying and pushing for new wireless spectrum, in addition to the 700 MHz spectrum many carriers and telcos bid for last year.
