FCC fines Amp'd, Sprint, Cricket, AT&T

Yesterday the FCC fined five wireless carriers a total of $132,000 for not addressing complaints submitted to the FCC by consumers. AT&T failed to respond to 24 complaints and the FCC charges a base fine of $4,000 for each complaint that goes unaddressed, which means the carrier will have to forfeit $96,000 in fines to the commission. The FCC served AT&T with the complaints in April 2007.
Alltel Wireless failed to address four complaints and has been fined $16,000 for not responding to complaints from last April. The now defunct MVNO Amp'd Mobile has been fined $8,000 for not responding to two complaints from last April. Sprint Nextel has been fined $4,000 for not responding to one complaint and Cricket is being fined $8,000 for not responding to two complaints.

Poor customer service is still cheaper than good customer service. These fines are not even a slap on the wrist.

Cricket had me arrested for trying to return a phone after I explained their 45 dollar month fee turned out to really be 72 dollar fee. They lied when I inquired and when I brought to their store
associates attention, she said the manger would be in at 6:oo p.m. The time being 3:45 P.M.
The manager was really in the back room of the store and called police lieing stating he told me to leave. I never even was able to communicate with him. Instead the associate grabbed my phone from me ( I own it I paid cash for it) and the manger made it look like I was snatching it from her on video. Cricket doesnot even have a customer service representative you can communicate with if there is a problem!!

My bf and I both have Att and both got an iphone. We got it when we were in hawaii. we came back to seattle and we started dropping calls and worst thing?????? no service at our own house.!!! att sucks............ Our phone will sit at our kitchen counter and it won't ring till we drive atleast a mile from the house. we would get voicemails that are day or 2 old because if we're at home, our phone don't ring, in other way we dont have signal. so to all customer who wants to go to att, make sure you try it at your jome first before they charge you 175 early termination fee. they might have the iphone but what good does it do if you can't make any calls......

my wife got ripped off by this company also. they are exceedingly scandalious. I think maybe by "power of Sugestion" someone could do a better job at dealing with this company than the system does. I think they should have their bussiness burned to the ground. These things I pray, day by day by day! :-)

Since Alltel was bought by Verison my service have been even worse. I have been charged fees for services that are covered under my contract. When I have called customer services and gone in to the retail stores for answers all I have received is a run around and lies. My bill was not changed to what I should have paid and when I was disputting the bill they shut my phones off and then charged my to turn them on again. This is not right. I can njot wait for my contract to be up to get rid of this company!!!
