The future of M2M? Touring the GSMA's Connected House

The growing role of M2M technology in the wireless industry was clearly on display during the recent Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain--the GSMA doubled the space allotted to its "Connected House" initiative this year compared with last year, adding a second story to the building in the courtyard of the Fira. The House featured solutions from the likes of AT&T (NYSE:T), Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), KT and others, and was geared as a showcase of the possibilities of the M2M market in the home and elsewhere. The GSMA's emphasis on everything connected isn't a surprise considering this segment is expected to fuel significant growth in the industry. According to a recent report from Cisco, by 2016 there will be more M2M connections (10 billion) than the number of people on the planet (7.3 billion).
