Garmin's Nuvifone faces trademark violations

Tools

Internet telephone provider Nuvio has filed a trademark violation lawsuit against Garmin for its recently unveiled GPS-powered Nuvifone. Nuvio claims that its customers typically refer to its service as "Nuvifone" so it has filed a cease-and-desist letter to Garmin. Nuvio also wants payments for past infringement since Garmin has used the Nuvi name since 2006 in North America and earlier in Europe.
