Google making mobile-phone inroads in Asia

China's largest mobile operator, China Mobile (Hong Kong), said it's in discussions with with Google to launch an Internet search engine for mobile services in China. The talks sound like they are more than merely putting a Google application on the phone. Wang Jianzhou, chairman and CEO of China Mobile, said he has met with Google's CEO twice and they "both share the same idea: how to turn cell phones into a new kind of Internet search engine." He didn't elaborate further than that. Meanwhile, Japanese operator KDDI said it would incorporate Google's search engine into its Internet mobile-phone service beginning in July.
