GSM/HSPA subs top 3.4 billion

The trade group 3G Americas announced that in the 12 months ending in the third quarter, 3G UMTS/HSPA technology added 100 million subscribers worldwide for a total of 3.4 billion GSM/HSPA global subscribers worldwide. Release

You might want to modify that headline...when I read it, my first reaction was "there's no f***ing way that there are over 3 billion HSPA subs" and sure enough, I was right. Of the 3.4 billion GSM/HSPA subs, 3.3 billion are probably GSM only.
