HP's Apotheker: 100M webOS-enabled products per year in the future

Tools

Hewlett-Packard CEO Leo Apotheker outlined the company's grand strategic vision at a media event Tuesday, and said the company's webOS platform would be a crucial piece of HP's business going forward. HP acquired the platform last year as part of its $1.2 billion acquisition of Palm. Apotheker said HP's first webOS tablet, the TouchPad, will be on the market in June. He also said that eventually HP wants to scale up the webOS ecosystem by shipping 100 million webOS-enabled products per year, including smartphones, tablets, PCs and printers. The HP chief said the company still considers Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) "a great partner," but that once the TouchPad is released there will be "wave after wave of technology coming out to support webOS."
