HTC expresses interest in buying own OS, but is in no rush

Cher Wang htcHTC Chairwoman Cher Wang said the Taiwanese smartphone maker has had internal discussions about buying its own platform, but is in no hurry to do so. "We have given it thought and we have discussed it internally, but we will not do it on impulse," Wang said in an interview with the Economic Observer of China, according to Taiwan's Central News Agency. Since Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced plans to purchase Motorola Mobility (NYSE:MMI) for $12.5 billion, and Hewlett-Packard decided to halt its webOS device business, speculation has swirled over what companies like HTC and Samsung might do to bolster their own software offerings. However, Wang seemed to indicate that HTC's Sense UI is enough to differentiate it for now. Article
